Long Term Care Insurance 101

Misconceptions about long term care insurance? Read on:

Myth: Long term care insurance is something only older people should consider.

Reality: 40% of people receiving care are between the ages of 18 and 64. This makes LTC insurance a product everyone, regardless of age, needs to consider as an addition to their risk management planning.

Myth: Medicare will pay for my long term expenses if needed.

Reality: Medicare covers only a small portion of the country’s long-term care bill. Medicare will only pay when certain conditions are met for both nursing facility and home care.

Call the Eastern Connecticut Benefit Center at 860-701-9113 and hear the reality behind more long term care insurance myths.  Agents are on site at the Chamber office four mornings each week.

Great article and I agree; a lot of people assume that long-term care is only for the elderly. What they don't know is that anyone can require health care if something was to happen to them that will prevent them from going about their daily tasks by themselves.
