Do you have suggestions for Dan Malloy?

Dan Malloy has taken the oath of office as our new governor and is developing a budget plan to present next month to the Connecticut General Assembly. With the strength of the business community in mind, do you have suggestions for him in the following areas:

CUT SPENDING and LOWER TAXES.
This are the things I must do in my life to live within a sensible budget; the government is no different!

Small business needs financing to expand and create jobs. I own a retail store in New London.
The cost of everything is jumping yet its very hard for retail stores to raise our prices. Rents are going up,
utilities are up, ANY NEW TAXES are out of the question. How much more will I have to work myself to pay the increases and still have anything left over at all. I need to hire but the cost of doing it are our of reach.

So many suggestions must come in the form of financial feedback. Costs, taxes, dollars......so sick of hearing about it. Face it, you can please everyone. I do however have a suggestion for "other", a suggestion can can please. Father's rights in the State are terrible when it comes to custody matters. A father should have the same chance at gaining custody as a mother can. In a case I am familiar with, it's amazing how a child can be verbally abused and that does not matter with not even with DCF, wow how wonderful for children - does that mean verbal abuse is okay? Verbal abuse can cause just as much damage as physical abuse. Children are the future, let's put a little extra care into them as beings who cannot represent themselves. Let's put them with the better parent that can guide them and provide for them better rather then harm them and hinder them for having a better life. In a situation I am familiar with it has ended successfully for the father, which is wonderful, but 6 years of damage to a child's spirit, energy and confidence that needs to be treated with. Very sad. Be the first Governor to tackle this or drop the ball like everyone else and let many children in situations like this down. Best of Luck to you, hope to see you do the right thing.

Don't make us pay for all the years that the legislature stole from the pensions for excess spending. Lets go to defined contributions not defined benefits.

My suggestions for the new Governor are as follows:

1) A 5-7% RIF of the state employee rolls. Emergency responders and teachers would be exempt. All others are fair game.

2) A 10-15% redcution over last years budget. The RIF should accomplish most of this.

3) All state employees must start contributing to their health care plans. 5% the first year and ramping up to the equivalent of private industry over 5 years, which would be in the 35%-50% contribution range.

4) A wage freeze for all state employees for two years.

5) A property tax freeze. Statewide.

6) An income tax freeze for five years.

7) Any investments should go directly to infrastructure improvements, alternative energy or green projects that can prove they are creating jobs and redcuing our dependence on foreign countries.

Eliminate all mowing along state highways. Many states don't do this and it would be a cost savings with no harmful impact.
