Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut’s 5th Annual Trikes to Bikes 2011

Niantic, CT — The Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut presents the 5th annual Trikes to Bikes family bike ride. The fundraising event begins with registration and check-in at 8 am on Sunday, Oct. 9, at Niantic Bay Bicycles, 8 Methodist St., rain or shine.

Two routes are available: the 7.5-mile ride through flat coastal marshes or the more challenging 33-mile ride through the scenic roads of the Lyme. Both rides start at 9 am at the bicycle shop following the kids’ decorated bike parade. All rides end at the Museum where riders can join in active family fun, healthy activities, demonstrations, and refreshments.

The registration fee for the decorated bike parade is $10 per family, however on the day of the event it is $15.  The fee for the 7.5-mile bike ride is $20 per family with advance registration and $25 per family on the day of the ride. The 33-mile ride costs $30 per rider before the day of the event and $35 on the day. All fees include admission to the Museum on the day.

The Museum is offering a bike-decorating workshop on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 3-4:30 pm, so kids can prepare their bicycles and tricycles for the parade. The material fee is $3 per member, $5 nonmember; maximum material fee per family is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Limited space is available and registration is required.  Bikes may be stored at the Museum overnight.
