Charter Oak and Its Employees Give Nearly $57,300 to United Way of SECT

Setting the Pace for the United Way Campaign

Groton, CT – August 20, 2012 – Employees at Charter Oak Federal Credit Union gave nearly $52,300 during their one-week United Way of Southeastern Connecticut Campaign, and set a new record with 84 percent employee participation.
Charter Oak kicked off its 2012 United Way Campaign with a $5,000 benefactor gift and promptly agreed to be a Pacesetter organization. As a Pacesetter, Charter Oak agreed to conduct its campaign before the official launch date, and to strive for a 5 percent increase in employee participation.

“Charter Oak’s employees are extremely philanthropic, and I’m proud to say that we’re setting the pace in Southeastern Connecticut with a 9 percent increase in employee participation and a total contribution of almost $57, 300,” said Brian Orenstein, Charter Oak’s Chief Executive Officer.

To celebrate this milestone, Charter Oak employees wore t-shirts imprinted with the phrase “Live United” on Friday, August 17th.

United Way of Southeastern Connecticut partners with local agencies to create a safety network of programs to help individuals and families remain healthy and gain financial independence. In 2011, United Way supported various initiatives and helped provide more than 1.7 million meals at the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.

Charter Oak remains committed to United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, and also welcomes other requests for funding. To learn more about Charter Oak’s Charitable Giving Program, visit www.CharterOak.org.
