Dime Bank Committed to Providing Financial Education to the Community

Norwich, CT —Dime Bank recently began their collaboration with Our Piece of the Pie (OPP) - a non-profit agency that aims to help young people attain a mix of educational, employment, and personal skills that contribute to their success.
Students will go through eight weeks of financial education modules; which will cover: Banking Basics, What to Expect when Living on Their Own, Credit Education and Awareness, Investing their Money, and Getting a Loan. Upon completion, the students will be awarded a Dime Academy diploma; recognizing them for their achievement.

Jinelle Hooker, supervisor of OPP Norwich said, “Our Piece of the Pie (OPP) helps youth become successful adults. We empower youth to become self-sufficient by offering holistic supports and services that encompasses youth development, workforce development, and academics (including post-secondary). Financial literacy is a key element in our efforts to empower youth to become self-sufficient, as it gives youth the knowledge and skills to manage financial resources effectively for a lifetime of financial well-being. We strive to teach youth the basics of banking, how to manage their living expenses, the importance of saving money, and positive spending behaviors/practices. We strongly believe that our partnership with Dime Bank will assist us in accomplishing these goals. Dime Bank has tailored asset specific trainings in the areas of education, housing, vehicle purchases and investments among other areas.
