Fitch High School to Hold Apprentice Challenge Tomorrow

Groton, CT-June 4, 2010 –24 Fitch High School students will be taking part in an Apprentice Challenge tomorrow from 7:30am to 2:00pm. Organized by Business Education teacher Shelly O’Neal-Kegler and Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s Kim Bartlett, the event is modeled after Donald Trump’s popular television show. Students will be challenged to develop a new marketing campaign to promote Charter Oak’s Focused on Finance Program to high school students.

Enforcing a variety of critical educational requirements before students can take advantage of a basic group of financial products, the Focused on Finance Program is available at Fitch High School and will be debuted at Killingly High School this fall. Students participating in tomorrow’s Apprentice Challenge will be responsible for developing a new marketing campaign for the Program, identifying ways to promote it, as well as presenting the campaign to a panel of judges tomorrow afternoon. Students will be mentored by Guest Marketing Experts Pete Hary of Quinn & Hary Marketing, Jackie Steele of Citadel Communications, Diane Martin of Hall Radio and Kris Peterson-Browning of The Day.

The Fitch Apprentice Challenge is just one of many ways Charter Oak and Fitch High School teachers are working together to integrate the Focused on Finance Program into the school community and curriculum.
