Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut Offers Autism Program

NIANTIC, CT The Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut (CMSECT), 409 Main St., is offering a program for children with autism and their families on Sunday, Aug. 15, 10-11:30 am. Museum staff and paraprofessionals from the New London Public Schools are on hand to assist children with the exhibits.

The Autism Spectrum program is offered on a monthly basis  – when the museum sets aside time specifically for families with autistic children so that they can enjoy a quiet environment conducive to their needs.

The morning program is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and is free, but visitors should register by calling (860) 691-1111. Space is limited. Specially trained education staff are present to enhance the visit for children and their families and to extend learning opportunities. 

The mission of the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut is to enhance the education of all children and families that live in and visit southeastern Connecticut by developing their awareness of the world around them through exploration of the arts, sciences, culture and history.  CMSECT serves more than 45,000 children and their families each year, both on and offsite.
