Groton, August 23, 2010: Constitution Bio Fuel LLC will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and Grand Opening of its new biodiesel plant on Saturday, August 28, at 4:00 in the afternoon. The company is located at 195 Leonard Drive, Unit 14 (in the Airport Industrial Park) in Groton, Connecticut.
Owned and operated by Douglas and Renee Dickey of Groton, Connecticut Constitution Bio Fuel LLC is a certified “green” company that collects used vegetable oil from a variety of resources including restaurants, hospitals, colleges, and nursing homes, and then converts it into biodiesel and home heating oil.
Doug, who manages and operates the business, grew up in Groton, graduated from Fitch Senior High School and from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Analytical Chemistry. He is a former employee of Pfizer's manufacturing plant in Groton who, when the plant closed, used his severance package as seed money for the bio fuel operation.
Renee, a graduate of Hartwick College, grew up in South Windsor, and holds advanced degrees in Special Education and Education Administration. She teaches Special Education at Fitch Middle School in Groton. Seeing bio fuel as a way to start their own "green" business, to help both the environment and the economy of eastern Connecticut, they applied for and received a loan from SeCTer (Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region) to help start Constitution Bio Fuels, LLC.
