CHARTER OAK FEDERAL CREDIT UNION HOLDING CANNED FOOD DRIVE FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYDonations Accepted at Any Charter Oak Branch!Groton, CT-November 5, 2010 – With the need for food assistance greater than ever, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will be donating hundreds of turkeys and canned goods to local food banks this Thanksgiving holiday. The Second Annual Turkey Donation made possible by the Credit Union’s Community Giving and Community Outreach Programs will provide $3,000 worth of turkeys in honor of former Charter Oak CEO Larry Hertell. In addition to delivering close to 250 turkeys the week before Thanksgiving, the Credit Union is working hard to increase this year’s bounty by holding drives for fixins’ (non-perishable food items like cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, gravy and stuffing). Both members and the public are encouraged to show their thanks this holiday season by donating canned goods to those in need. Donations will be accepted at any Charter Oak branch through November 16th. Canned goods will be distributed to various food banks throughout Eastern Connecticut.
