CHARTER OAK TO OPEN STUDENT BRANCH IN KILLINGLY’S NEW HIGH SCHOOL Credit Union’s Second High School Branch to Open in Fall 2010 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Laurie B. Cormier, AVP Marketing (860) 446-3239 Groton, CT-May 7, 2010 –In addition to a brand new building, Killingly teens can also bank on financial education this fall when Charter Oak Federal Credit Union opens the doors of its state-of-the art student branch at Killingly High School. Partnering with the Town of Killingly to make the Credit Union’s Focused on Finances Program available to K.H.S. educators and students, Charter Oak will promote financial literacy, provide educational services, and also offer low-cost deposit products that encourage teens to save for the future. Opening in mid-September following the school’s highly anticipated grand opening, the branch will be open to K.H.S. students, faculty and staff while school is in session. Conveniently located next to the school store and cafeteria, the office will be staffed by both students and Credit Union employees. With financial literacy being the goal, Charter Oak’s Focused on Finances Program serves to encourage financial responsibility- requiring students to review chapters in the National Endowment for Financial Education’s program book before opening an account at the Credit Union. According to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. William Silver, “This is a great opportunity for the school to partner with an anchor of our community, provide enhanced personal finance education for our students, and provide a service for staff, students and parents.” For more information on Charter Oak’s Focused on Finances Program including current educational services offered at Robert E. Fitch High School, visit CharterOak.org. |
