Charter Oak Promotes Six Employees to Assistant Vice President

 

Groton, CT-January 14, 2011-Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s Chief Executive Officer Brian A. Orenstein, announced the promotion of six employees to Assistant Vice President at the Credit Union’s annual holiday party at the Mystic Marriott on January 8th. Staff receiving promotions hail from a variety of departments, including Charter Oak’s Information Technology, Accounting, Operations and Lending departments. Promoted employees and their new titles include:

 

Deborah Berardi of Griswold has been named Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager for Charter Oak. Starting at the Credit Union in July of 1985, Berardi has served as a Member Service Representative, as Executive Secretary, in the Information Technology Department and as Training Coordinator. Since 2004, she has overseen the Credit Union’s busiest branch on Long Hill Road and since 2008, has added the responsibility of managing Charter Oak’s Fitch High School branch. There, Berardi regularly volunteers to make classroom presentations about budgeting, saving and healthy finances. Berardi resides in Griswold with her husband Dean, her sons Andrew and Nathan as well as two standard poodles, Isabelle and Ivy.

 

Lori Wong has been promoted to Assistant Vice President/Financial Controller. Lori joined Charter Oak in February 2007 as the Credit Union’s Financial Controller.  Prior to coming to Charter Oak, Wong was employed at Eastern Federal Bank as the Controller and Bank Officer.  Other positions held at Eastern were Head Teller, Accounting Supervisor and Accounting Manager. Wong is a graduate of Bryant College with a BS in Accounting and recently acquired her Masters Degree. 

 

Rebecca Gerrish of Mystic has been promoted to Assistant Vice President/Lending Manager for Charter Oak FCU. Gerrish joined Charter Oak in October 1970 as a teller and was later promoted to Head Teller, where she worked many years until joining the lending department as a Loan Interviewer/Senior Loan Interview and Loan Manager.  In 1990 Becky became a Manager within the Loan Department and has served in that capacity until her recent promotion. She has played a significant role in transforming the Credit Union’s focus from indirect auto lending to real estate lending.

 

Thomas Maher of Norwich, CT has been named Assistant Vice President/Quality Control Lending Manager. A graduate of Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Maher has over 22 years of experience in financial services and has worked at Charter Oak since July 2007. An avid Yankees and Packers fan, Maher is active with his local Little League.

 

Traci L. Webster has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Information Technology and will oversee daily operations of the Credit Union’s IT Department. Since joining Charter Oak in February 1987 as a teller, she has been promoted to positions of Head Teller, System Support Assistant and Data Systems Coordinator. Webster, who coaches and plays softball, resides in Lebanon with her husband Andre Rancourt, as well as her two stepchildren Andrew and Jessica.

 

Sundae P. Franklin has been named Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager for the Credit Union. Working at Charter Oak since 2008, Franklin has over 18 years of experience in financial services, including experience serving as Prime Mortgage Group’s Mortgage Originator and as Branch Manager, Mortgage Underwriter and Mortgage Processing Supervisor for Eastern Federal Bank. She currently oversees Charter Oak’s Niantic and Montville branches. Residing in Quaker Hill with her husband Rick, Franklin is an active member of the East Lyme Business Organization, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce.
