Popular Children’s Author and Dog to Visit Mystic Seaport

Mystic, Conn. - Children, adults and dogs, too, are invited to meet Mabel, the canine subject of the new children’s book Mabel Takes a Paddle by Emily Chetkowski at Mystic Seaport Saturday, July 18, from 1 - 3 p.m.

New England author Chetkowski will tell the story behind the third book in her popular children’s series at the Museum’s Australia Beach and then take Mabel kayaking down the historic Mystic River. Visitors are invited to bring their leashed dogs and go for a row alongside Mabel in one of the Museum’s Boathouse rentals. Extra fee applies.

Event tickets are $10 per child ($7 per member child) and are on sale now at www.mysticseaport.org or by calling 860.572.5339. Museum admission is also required for non-members.

Mystic Seaport offers additional activities for visitors of all ages including horse and carriage rides, hands-on workshops, 19th-century magic shows, the chance to star in the interactive play Tale of a Whaler, games of 19th-century baseball, daily programs in the planetarium and much more.

Second-day admission to the Museum is free with ticket validation. Return visit must be made within one week from date of ticket purchase.

Mystic Seaport is the nation’s leading maritime museum. The Museum is located one mile south of exit 90 off I-95 in Mystic, CT. Admission is $24 for adults and $15 for children ages 6-17.
