COREPLUS FURNITURE BENEFITS LOCAL NON PROFITS
CorePlus Federal Credit Union with seven branches located in Southeastern Connecticut announce that during the months of July and August they had donated considerable amounts of gently used furniture to local charities.
The mission of the cooperative credit union is" to provide progressive, competitive financial services in a personal, professional and prompt manner" but their mission also states" they recognize their responsibility to be involved in the community" any time an opportunity arises they try to assist the cause. "We explored several options for the furniture from selling it to donating it" said Warren Scholl CEO of CorePlus "then we thought with all of our connections with the charities in our community lets first contact them to see if we can help." Many of them are struggling in these tough times and we thought some nice chairs or desks and even filing cabinets with locks would help these organizations. In our continuous preparation for growth and expansion we are very happy that some of our older items may be put to good use by our "not for profit" friends and will benefit those in need." So far furniture has been delivered to Sound Community Services, Alliance for Living, American Diabetes Association and the Leukemia association. In talking with Ceci Ileff from the American Diabetes Association about the credit unions participation in the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes being held on October 16th they asked if she needed some furniture for their offices. Ceci was thrilled and said" I will meet you at the branch to pick out what we can use! I am overwhelmed by CorePlus's generosity and extremely happy to have the new (to us) furniture in our offices. I LOVE MY FURNITURE!!! Holy cow, it would have cost a fortune to replicate that set up." CorePlus has been member owned since 1936 CorePlus Federal Credit Union is celebrating 75 years of service this year. The Credit Union was formed in Norwich with 27 people and $15.00.
Today CorePlus has seven branches, Norwich, Backus Hospital, Waterford, Taftville, Plainfield, East Lyme and Groton.
