Custom House Maritime Museum Winter Celebration

Tops off Downtown Festivities December 3

New London, CT - On Saturday, December 3rd at 6:30 P.M., just following The Whaling City's Holiday Celebration of Lights & Song and concurrent with the NLart Stroll, the New London Maritime Society holds its annual Winter Celebration, an evening filled with music, cookies, lights and lighthouses. Featured is performer Tom Callinan, who marks the 20th Anniversary of his designation as Connecticut's first Official State Troubadour with this event. Tom presents an intergenerational concert at the historic maritime museum in a setting filled with sparkling lights and lighthouses. Admission is free for NLMS members, children aged 13 and younger, USCG cadets and current military with valid ID; and $5 for all others.

Targeted to ages 10 and up, the holiday concert doubles as the release of Tom's 14th and 15th albums: "Commemorations" [People, Places, & Things Worth Knowing About], and "I'll Take New England Any Day". Sponsored, in part, by funding from the New London Water Authority, the program will consist of an eclectic mix of original and traditional nautical and New London-related songs - as well as some holiday selections.

Make an evening of it: come to downtown New London on Saturday, December 3, for the city's Holiday Celebration of Lights & Song, shop, have dinner, catch the Winter Celebration at the Custom House (along with cookies and hot cider), then resume your shopping at the NLart stroll. Remember this holiday season to Buy Local. The Custom House Museum Shop has a terrific array of holiday ornaments, gifts and vintage maritime books. We're open daily, (every day except Monday), between 1 and 5 PM.
