Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks add the Oasis Room to U.S. TourLegendary singer-songwriter and his band of merry swingsters to come to New London in support of "Tangled Tales" In support of the new studio album, “Tangled Tales,” Dan Hicks and The Hot Licks continue their U.S. tour with a performance at the Garde Arts Center’s Oasis Room on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 7:30 pm. The performance is presented in association with Kitchings Productions. In vintage Dan Hicks form, “Tangled Tales” mashes the outlaw swing music, insightful charm and brilliant melodies that have endeared him to audiences and fellow artists for four decades with his signature understated melancholy that could only be born from a creative genius. Featuring a world-class collection of musical talent including instrumental virtuosos David Grisman, Charlie Musselwhite, and slide-guitarist Roy Rogers, and produced by Grammy-winning roots music producer Chris Goldsmith, “Tangled Tales” delivers eight great new original tunes that feel like instant Dan Hicks classics along with some choice cover tunes. A more-than-worth addition to his massive body of work, “Tangled Tales” is an irresistible nod to Hicks’ undeniable musical legacy and a potent reminder of all of the musical inspiration that he has spawned. Revered by, and also having collaborated with, such legendary artists as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Bette Midler, Brian Setzer, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, and Rickie Lee Jones – Hicks serves up his unique fashion, attitude and swagger that are embodied in his eccentricity and unique sound. His counter-culture appeal, which has twice landed him on the cover of “Rolling Stone,” has always been rooted in his songwriting. His lyrics have been touted as some of the sharpest-tongued, driest-witted and subtly hilarious bits of irreverence ever committed to rhyme. Tickets to Dan Hicks and The Hot Licks are $45 and are available at the Garde Box Office, 325 State St., New London, Conn. The Garde Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and two hours prior to the curtain on performance days. Tickets may be purchased by phone during regular box office hours at (860) 444-7373, ext. 1, or online at www.gardearts.org. |
