June 5 9:30 a.m. Free Connecticut Trails Day Celebrate CT Trails day with a hike along the lesser traveled Avalonia Trail at the Nature Center. The trails winds by beautiful ledges and vernal pools. June 5 10 a.m. Free Explore a Pitch Pine Ridge This 22-acre Pitch Pine and Oak Savanah is unusual in Connecticut. We hope to document the associated tree, shrub and herbaceous species found there. Co-sponsored by the Connecticut Botanical Society. June 12 9:00 am – 3 p.m. Members: $20 NonMembers: $25 Float the Wood River The Wood River is a beautiful wooded stream with a couple of dams that form ponds along the way. There are lot of fun riffles along this shallow river and plenty of sun while crossing the ponds. Bring your own boat & lunch. Meet at the DPNC at 9 a.m. or at the put-in at 9:30. June 12 7 p.m. $10/person Horseshoe Crab Walk at Napatree At this time each year hundreds of horseshoe crabs crawl on to the beaches of New England. Join DPNC and Mystic Aquarium educators of a new moon walk at Napatree Point, Rhode Island to see this natural wonder. Please bring a flashlight, and be prepared to get wet feet and hike a distance!
