RiverQuest - Returns to Eagle Landing State Park, Haddam

(Haddam, Conn., July 09, 2010)Welcome aboard!

Connecticut River Expeditions is pleased to announce that its eco-tour vessel, RiverQuest, has returned to Eagle Landing State Park on the Connecticut River in scenic Haddam for summer and fall daily public and private cruises after a major renovation.

RiverQuest, now 64', is a stable, environmentally friendly vessel that has exposed literally tens of thousands of passengers, young and old, to the fragile beauty of the Connecticut River through public and private cruises and on-water education adventures. She has seating for all, an outside deck and an ample cabin area for passengers that want to be under cover.

“When we completed our very successful Eagle Cruises this past March, we put RiverQuest in dry dock at Chester Point Marina, Chester. An extremely talented team cut her bow off, added ten feet of hull, fabricated and installed a new pilot house and “sewed” her back together” says Capt. Mark Yuknat of the RiverQuest boat. “Our mission is to get people out on the Connecticut River, to experience the pristine beauty of the river first hand. We will now be able to accomplish this more efficiently.”

Eagle Landing State Park is located off Route 82 in Haddam, just south of the famous swing bridge, which opened in 1913. There is plenty of parking, a large lawn and some picnic tables for visitors.

RiverQuest offers well-regarded public, school and private cruises and charters from her location at Eagle Landing. The lineup includes:

ú Daytime cruises: 60 minutes and 90 minutes long for all ages

ú Sunset/Evening cruises: Two hours long for adults

ú Specialty cruises: Foliage, eagle/bird watching, geology, history

ú Educational cruises: Schools and other groups

ú Private charters: Accommodates up to 45 people

ú Bus/Group tour charters: Accommodates up to 62 people

Across from the entrance to Eagle Landing State Park, the former Goodspeed railroad station now houses a unique gift store. Across the river, East Haddam is a destination in itself. The village is known for its old-fashioned downtown, is home to the historic Goodspeed Opera House, restaurants and quaint Main Street shopping. Gillette’s Castle, one of the state’s most popular parks, is only 4.5 miles away.

“We are well into our second year at Eagle Landing State Park and we’re thrilled to again be part of the Haddam and East Haddam community,” says Captain Yuknat. “We look forward to introducing all of our valued customers, both old and new, to the modified RiverQuest, now the ultimate vessel for bringing people out onto the river”.
