Chelsea Groton Bank Employees Raise over $11,000 for Charities

 

From January through June 2010, Chelsea Groton Bank team members have donated $ 11, 061 to various local charitable organizations.   To raise the funds, Chelsea Groton Bank employees pay $5 to wear jeans, or $10 to wear jeans and sneakers on selected Fridays.  The money raised is then donated to the charity designated for that day. 

Most recently, on Friday, July 9, bank employees raised $700 for Donate Life Connecticut. 

In January, $1,646 was donated to Help Haiti.  In February, bank employees raised $2,635 to support a special team member and for the Penguin Plunge.  For March, the Leadership Program organized fund raisers for the Gemma Moran Food Center and Chelsea Groton team members contributed to a total donation of 2,066 pounds of food.  The Mystic Aquarium Educational Program also received $800 from Chelsea Groton employees in March. Chelsea Groton team members donated $1030 to The Tomorrow Fund in April.  $860 was raised for the American Cancer Society, $690 was donated to Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, and $955 was donated in May for a Scholarship in honor of Alysia Pyatt, a team member who passed away this past February.  For June, $1945 was contributed by employees and distributed among the Susan G. Koman 3-Day for the Cure and Backus Hospital’s Breast Health Initiative.

These contributions are separate from the hundreds of thousands of dollars Chelsea Groton Bank and the Chelsea Groton Foundation donate to numerous local charities each year.  Additionally, Chelsea Groton Bank team members donate thousands of hours of their time each year to various charitable organizations, along with the monetary gifts.
