Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut Installs Geothermal Unit, Opens with Limited Access

NIANTIC, CT – The Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, 409 Main St., is entering into the final stage of its green initiative. The installation of the geothermal heating and cooling system begins on Aug. 29 and will be completed and running by Sept. 19.

Although a section of the museum is closed during that time by necessity, the Discovery Room will be open along with the large outdoor play area. Parts of other exhibits will be moved into the Discovery Room, which includes the indoor/outdoor bee hive, the train table, a mini-Global Village, a toddler area, and other favorite exhibits.

Visitors coming to the museum between Aug. 29-Sept. 19 pay $4 admission per person and receive a $1 off return admission coupon. Announcement of museum-sponsored, offsite events held during this time, for example walks at the beach or pond, will be emailed to people on the museum’s contact list and announced via Facebook or Twitter.

Please note that the entire museum is closed for its annual maintenance and building new exhibits from Sept. 5-9, reopening on Sept. 10 with the limited access mentioned above.
