Growing Green in Eastern Connecticut
FRANKLIN, CT – The Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) is seeking to invest in emerging “Green” employer initiatives in the region. Funded through a statewide federal grant from the US Department of Labor, EWIB’s Green Jobs Project Team has a charge to “prepare a workforce for the energy efficiency and renewable energy businesses, as well as other green industries” said John Beauregard, Executive Director of EWIB.
The Green Jobs Project Team is Co-Chaired by Dr. Rochelle Giménez, Dean of the School of Continuing Education at Eastern CT State University and also a member of EWIB’s Board of Directors and Chad Whitcomb, President of Greensulators of Lisbon. The Green Jobs Project Team will ensure that training & education programs match the evolving workforce needs of energy sector employers and develop a seamless set of career pathways in Green industries. “The first step in that mission is issuing a call to employers who want to train their workers in Green technologies” said Dr. Giménez. “We’re looking for Green companies who want to train their workers or any Eastern CT employer who has embraced innovative Green technology or practices and now needs to bring their employees up to speed” said Chad Whitcomb, Co-Chair. “If an employer is interested, they can call Tim Murney at (860) 235-7346 or go to EWIB’s website at www.ewib.org to find the application and further information about the program.” Whitcomb continued. “Time is of the essence ~ applications are due Friday, April 15th!”
