Mitchell College Family Halloween Festival on October 30 to Benefit Local Food Pantry
NEW LONDON, CONN - Mitchell College’s Behavioral Science Club is hosting its Fourth Annual Family Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the College Green and Clarke Center auditorium.
The event is free and open to the public and will feature family style fun with face painting, holiday themed arts and crafts, games and storytelling by a host of whimsical witches and goblins. Halloween Costume Parades are also scheduled throughout the day, so participants are encouraged to wear festive attire.
All though the event is free and open to the public, donation of one non-perishable canned food item is requested for admission. All donations will support the Gemma Moran United Way Labor Food Pantry.
Helium balloons, baked goods, hot dogs, popcorn, beverages and candied apples will also be available for purchase.
This popular family themed event was originally created in 1994 by Don Helms, professor of Behavioral Sciences, as a way to bring local families to the Mitchell College campus.
“Last year we had over 400 members of the local community in attendance and several members of the college community (faculty, staff, and students) volunteered time, energy and creative talent,” said Jennifer Mauro, faculty advisor of the Behavioral Science Club. “The Behavioral Sciences Club takes pride in this event especially because it provides another opportunity for families and communities to connect.”
