New London City Council to proclaim September 9th as Homeless to Hopeful Day
New London, CT – At the September 6th meeting of the New London City Council, Mayor Martin Olsen will proclaim Friday, September 9th as Homeless to Hopeful Day in the City of New London.
This proclamation coincides with the 7th Annual Homeless to Hopeful Dance on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 7-11 PM at the Port ‘n’ Starboard at Ocean Beach Park to benefit Covenant Shelter of New London and the New London Homeless Hospitality Center. The proclamation, which extols Homeless to Hopeful’s strong commitment to ending homelessness and to providing the hope of brighter future, will also be formally presented by Mayor Olsen on the evening of the dance. “The dance is a great opportunity for our regional community to come together for a fun evening to help end homelessness for men, women and children in Southeastern Connecticut,” stated benefit chair Robyn Wolman. “We are thrilled to work together with the City of New London for this worthwhile cause,” continued Wolman.
The evening will include dancing to the hot tunes of Rock ‘n’ Soul Revue and Power Posse Productions in addition to raffles and silent auction. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served and cash bar will be available.
