Chelsea Groton Bank donates $25,000 to Homeless Veterans Project

Chelsea Groton Bank committed $25,000 to TALVHI (The American Legion Veterans Housing, Inc.) which is building 18 homeless veterans apartments in Jewett City. Incoming President B. Michael Rauh, Jr. noted “as a bank we are honored to participate in this project which rehabilitates an underutilized building and at the same time, meets a very serious need.”

Retiring President Duncan Stoddard said, “Chelsea Groton Bank is proud to be part of a project that is a model for Veterans organizations throughout the United States.”  TALVHI is the first building where a Veterans post is giving up the majority of its quarters to provide direct care to homeless Veterans.

“The bank’s generous gift will be recognized in helping to construct one of the apartments”, said William J. Czmyr Jr., president of TALVHI.  Appropriate plaques will be placed in the main lobby and at the apartment entrance.

Chelsea Groton Bank has been committed to their friends, neighbors and communities for over 156 years.  To learn more, visit chelseagroton.com.
