Hospice Volunteer Training Series

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut announces its next Volunteer Training series in May 2009. Volunteers are essential members of the Hospice Southeastern Connecticut caregiving community. Volunteers provide a variety of support services to patients, their families, and staff.

There are openings in the following categories of volunteers throughout New London County:

Pet Therapists (All areas of Southeastern Connecticut)

Massage Therapists, Reflexology Specialists, and Healing Touch Therapists (East Lyme, Old Lyme, Lyme, Waterford, Salem, and Colchester)

Patient Care Volunteers – visit patients and provide respite for families (Norwich, Preston, Griswold, Lisbon, Franklin, Salem, Colchester, N. Stonington, Lyme, and Old Lyme)

Rose Program Volunteers – delivering roses and bereavement information to families after the patient dies (Norwich, Preston, Griswold, Lisbon, Franklin, Salem, Colchester, Stonington, N. Stonington, Lyme, Old Lyme)

Telephone Surveyor Volunteers (Groton, East Lyme/Lyme/Old Lyme, Colchester, Griswold)

Equipment Pick-up and Delivery Volunteers (5 drivers willing to cover all areas of Southeastern Connecticut)

Volunteer Hair Stylists and Barbers (10 covering all areas of Southeastern Connecticut)

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut is a community-based non-profit organization that provides quality care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their loved ones before and after death. An interdisciplinary group of professionals in medical care, pain management, spiritual and psychosocial support care for the patient’s daily needs.
