Mystic, Conn. ~ Tickets for Lantern Light Tours, a New England holiday tradition at Mystic Seaport, are on sale now.

December 3 - 4, 10 - 11, 17 - 19 and 26 - 27. Tours begin at 5 p.m. and

Lantern
Light Tours is a 70-minute progressive play that takes its audience back
to Christmas past. Visitors tour Mystic Seaport on foot, take a
horse-drawn carriage ride, experience a traditional tavern dance and may
even catch a glimpse of old St. Nicholas.
This
year’s performance, “The Carpenter,” transports visitors back to the
town of Mystic on Christmas Eve 1876. People from near and far are
traveling to the small village and the townspeople are talking of the
events that led up to this night: local financier and politician Harold
King's referendum requiring everyone to register to vote; the current
political and economic hardships; the arrival of three lawyers from
Orient Point; the birth of baby John to Elizabeth; and Joseph and
Virginia Sawyer's travails as they arrive in town just in time for the
birth of their son. Throughout it all, there is merriment, wisdom, truth
and a profound sense that there is a plan for all.
Advance ticket prices are $28 for adults ($26 for members) and $21 for
children ages 4-18 ($19 for member youth). Walk-in tickets purchased the
day of the performance are $30 for adults ($28 for members) and $23 for
youth ages 4-18 ($21 for member youth). Children ages 4 and under will
be admitted for free, but must be identified when making a reservation.
No additional fees will be applied to ticket prices. Tickets can be
purchased online at www.mysticseaport.org/tickets, by calling
860.572.5322 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the
Museum’s main entrance. Visitors must indicate the need for a
handicap-accessible tour when making a reservation.
The Lantern Light Tours’ route covers uneven terrain which includes
cobblestone, wood planking, grass, gravel and stairs. Tour goers will
walk or stand for almost the entire production and are encouraged to
wear appropriate footwear. Visitors are also reminded to wear
appropriate outerwear for the season’s weather conditions.
In keeping with the holiday spirit, Mystic Seaport kindly requests that
each person attending Lantern Light Tours brings a donation of a
