New
Expressive Arts Coordinator for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut
Norwich, CT (June 1, 2010) – Hospice Southeastern Connecticut announces that it has hired a new Expressive Arts Coordinator, Linda Bradley, MFA, ATR. Bradley, a registered art therapist, is an adjunct Fine Arts instructor at Manchester Community College, an art therapy instructor at Springfield College, and a per diem art therapist at Natchaug Hospital. Bradley also has an art studio, Blue Heart Expressive Arts in Manchester, CT where she works with individual clients.
“I have found that expressing oneself through visual arts and other creative modes are deeply effective ways of working with grief,” said Bradley. “When individuals are given an opportunity to be creative within a non-judgmental, supportive and welcoming environment, they become more comfortable in sharing thoughts, feelings and emotions. The Expressive Arts provide a means to communicate that which cannot easily be expressed through words alone.” Hospice Southeastern Connecticut provides bereavement services for residents of New London County free of charge, regardless of whether or not the death occurred under hospice care. The organization also provides care in the home and often in skilled nursing facilities for those facing the end of their life, regardless of age, disease or inability to pay. |

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut offers Expressive Arts as a bereavement therapy in which participants are able to work through their grief after the death of a partner, parent, child or other loved one. While using the art making process as a focus, participants share their grief and listen to others who are going through similar issues and changes. The creative product resulting from each session is a tangible, meaningful remembrance of their loved one. No artistic skills are needed to benefit from participation in the Expressive Arts program.com(SLASH).jpg)
