New England Glass & Mirror Co. provides the same quality service at a new location

The decision to move is never easy, whether it is from your home of long-standing, or a business which has been located in the same place for decades, and where your loyal customers have long since learned where to find you.

Just ask Carl Reiser, the co-owner of New England Glass & Mirror, whose company has been on Central Avenue in the Greenville section of Norwich for 40 years.

“We were looking at sites within a 20-30 mile radius of Norwich, but in the end it really made sense for us to stay in Norwich,” he said. “There was a real communal effort with NCDC (Norwich Community Development Corporation) and Norwich Public Utilities; the groups provided helpful and needed incentive programs.”

Thanks to the city’s willingness to help keep a business, New England Glass & Mirror is now operating out of a 15,000 sq. ft. space at 31  Connecticut Avenue in the Stanley Israelite Norwich Business Park. The new facility, almost a third larger, will allow the company to position itself to take advantage of the economic rebound when it occurs.

“We just outgrew the old facility, which didn’t set up well for our current operation,” he said. Besides, the move will allow the company, co-owned by Reiser and his brother-in-law Tom Haling, to be an owner, rather than a renter. “The whole building has 35,000 sq. ft. of space, and will allow for a couple of tenants as well as our own operation.”

The company provides a range of services for both residential and commercial customers, with products that include plexiglass, window glass, tabletops in addition to storefronts and commercial windows. It works in the commercial, residential markets as well as building maintenance.

New England Glass & Mirror Co., may have moved but it has the same old number, 860-887-1649. You can also check them out at: http://www.neglassmirror.com
