“New President Leads SE CT Women’s NETWORK”

September 27, 2010, Mystic, CT – “I would like to see our NETWORK members embrace the electronic age,” shares new SE CT Women’s NETWORK President D’mitra Gomez Waheed, recently following her first chairing of a NETWORK luncheon. “Our NETWORK website has been redesigned completely and it is very user friendly with all of the information easily accessible for anyone interested in knowing more about our organization as well as members who want to reach out and become active on one of our committees.”

D’mitra initially joined the NETWORK in 2003 for a year, then rejoined in 2006 to “help ease the feat of working for myself.” She is a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant, teaching and selling skin care and color. Before going into business for herself, she worked with non-profit organizations as a case manager, child advocate and special needs assistant teacher. D’mitra also started a Girl Scout troop for her daughter and playmates eight years ago, so they could experience the fun and adventure that she did when she was young. She is also the New London Service Unit manager. “I enjoy being part of an organization that focuses on the strength of women, which both the Girl Scouts and our NETWORK do.” D’mitra lives in New London, sharing a home with her husband of 18 years and her 13 year old daughter Kailah.

The NETWORK has been in existence since 1976, and today the Network has grown to approximately 180 members from a diverse range of businesses and professions, and offers both women and men an inclusive and supportive forum for networking, knowledge and education.
