Norwich Arts Council Presents a Celebration with Peter SpinkThe Norwich Arts Council presents Grammy-nominated artist Peter Spink on Friday, February 5, 2010 as the next event in the First Friday Live Sounds series, at the Donald L. Oat Theatre at 8:00pm. Spink’s music blends the simple intimacy of folk music with the improvisation of jazz and the gut-level excitement of rock and roll. From his first moments of memory, Singer-songwriter Peter Spink has heard music. The son of an accomplished Ragtime pianist, Peter began playing piano at age five. By age thirteen he was on his way to mastering the guitar by routinely stealing the instrument from his sister's bedroom when she was not around. Composing music came naturally to him, and it wasn't long before Mr. Spink began telling his own stories in song. A degree in English and years as a journalist only served to strengthen his songwriting skills. To read more about Peter Spink, visit his web site at www.peterspink.com. First Fridays Live Sounds events can be either “bring your own” or you can enjoy food and drink from the Norwich Arts Council’s concession stand. Tables are for up to eight people, and ticket prices for this event are $20 per person. To purchase tickets, call the Norwich Arts Council Donald L.
