SAVA Insurance Group Fully Supports Terri Brodeur Walk Again
Company has personal reasons for joining each year.

October 14, 2010, Waterford, CT – SAVA Insurance Group has walked in the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF) every year since 2007, for a very personal reason. They lost one of their staff members and friend Deborah Mullin to cancer in 2009. “We think of her very year when we commit to the TBBCF Walk, and smile because we know she is there with us in spirit,” shares Donna Yother, President of SAVA.

Another reason why SAVA had chosen this particular walk is because of the TBBCF philosophy of “a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world,” as well as the fact that TBBCF devotes 100% of gross fundraising dollars directly to research. “This critical funding is crucial to finding a cure for breast cancer,” says Yother. “Many other organizations commit their funds, but not in the degree of the TBBCF pledge.”

SAVA volunteers Donna, her business partner Michelle, Amy and Debbie walked the 26.2 mile marathon, while other staff members, such as Chris, Johanna and Amy Giel, and their family and friends worked in the pit stop crew. “Every years, we devote the day to this cause. And we make a strong commitment of funds to raise; this year we pledged $3,000 and hope to go over that.” Fundraisers have until the end of December to meet their pledge goals. “We are committed to making that happen,” says Michelle. “And we are already talking about next year’s TBBCF Walk Across Southeastern CT.”

The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit group dedicated to providing critical funding to researchers in search of a cure for breast cancer. The organization’s name was chosen to honor a friend, Terri Brodeur, who succumbed to the disease in 2005, leaving behind three young children. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35.While early detection and treatment advances help to save lives, recurrence is always a possibility and there is still no cure for Stage IV breast cancer.
