seCTer and CT Lending Partners Program Fund
New Medical Practice in Groton
New London: On March 11 the SouthEastern Connecticut Enterprise Region (seCTer) finalized a new loan with funds from the Connecticut Credit Consortium, a program of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. The loan was made to Phillips Integrative Health, LLC., whose founders, Harold E. Phillips, Jr. MD and Kimberly A. Phillips MD, are board-certified family physicians trained in functional and nutritional medicine. The loan will enable their purchase of machinery, equipment, software and systems associated with establishing their practice, at 801 Poquonnock Road in Groton. The goal of their practice, which opens on May 11, is to “Bridge the Gap” between conventional medicine and medically sound alternative therapies. Their holistic approach will help entire families live healthy, vibrant, and energetic lives.
They will offer therapies for weight loss, anti-aging, cancer prevention, heart health, “pre-diabetes,” diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, detoxification, food and environmental allergies, heavy metal toxicities, and other conditions and diseases that respond to lifestyle modifications as well as, or in addition to, medication. The Phillips’ are also available to speak at schools, churches, community organizations and businesses in New England and the Tri-state area on preventative and nutritional health issues for children and adults.
Ms. Ann Chambers, seCTer Loan Officer, noted that this is the second small business loan, made by seCTer from this fund, and that several more are currently in process. The fund provides loans in amounts up to $100,000, for a term of up to ten years, at a fixed 4% interest rate, and may be combined with other loan programs administered by seCTer. “This fund offers an opportunity for seCTer to reach out to the many small businesses in New London County, like Phillips Integrative Health, that need a ‘shot in the arm’ to aid in their startup or growth,” she said, adding: “seCTer considers the Drs. Phillips’ practice to be a significant and innovative addition to health care in New London County.”
