SouthEastern CT Enterprise Region Elects Board Members and Officers for 2012

New London: The SouthEastern CT Enterprise Region (seCTer) held its Annual Meeting on November 17 at the Holiday Inn  in Norwich.  At the breakfast meeting, Chairman Mark Oefinger reported on activities and accomplishments of the organization for the recently completed  fiscal year 2011. He acknowledged  outgoing board members Bob Ross, Mary Ellen Jukoski, and Richard Erickson and thanked them for their service to seCTer and to regional economic development. Treasurer, Denny Hicks, reviewed the financial status of the regional economic development agency.  The organization also elected board members for terms expiring in December 2014.  These are Frank McLaughlin, New London Downtown Investment Coordinator; Carmelina Kanzler and Naomi Otterness; Jerry Lamb of the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory; David Hammond of Pfizer; Ed Haberek, Stonington First Selectman; Thayne Hutchins of the Mohegan Tribal Council; Charles Seeman of  United Community and Family Services; and Marjorie Valentin from Three Rivers Community College.  Trish Paesani of the CT Department of Community and Economic Development will also join the board as and Ex-Officio member representing the State of CT.

Following the business meeting, Deborah Donovan, seCTer Director of Economic Development gave a brief presentation on the recently-completed Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), which will be submitted to the Economic Development Agency (EDA) at the end of November. 

At a Board of Directors meeting immediately following the Annual Meeting, officers for 2012 were elected.  Mark Oefinger will continue as Chairman, joined by Robert Giffen as 1st Vice-Chairman, Tom Marano as 2nd Vice-Chairman, G.W. “Denny” Hicks as Treasurer, and John W. “Bill” Sheehan as Secretary.
