seCTer Funds Available for Aquaculture Businesses

New London:  The Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region (seCTer), with headquarters in New London, announced today that two of the loan funds they administer are available to assist aquaculture farmers in New London County who have been adversely affected by Hurricane Irene.

Aquaculture is eligible for funding under a Disaster Assistance Revolving Loan Program funded by the State of CT DECD or for funding under the Small Business Loan Fund (an EDA Program), commonly known as the Fishermen's Fund, both of which are  administered by seCTer.

Those involved in aquaculture in NL County who were impacted by Irene may contact seCTer for details or may contact seCTer directly at achambers@secter.org.  “There have been a number of articles in the national and local press recently relating to the inability of Aquaculture businesses to access hurricane assistance,” said Ms. Ann Chambers, Loan Officer for seCTer.  “We want these enterprises to know that seCTer is ready and able to give them the help they may need to tide them over Irene’s effects.  They should call me with their needs as soon as possible so we can help this important sector of our economy back on its feet ASAP!”   She noted that assistance is also available to other types of agricultural businesses that suffered storm damage to their crops, buildings and livestock.

For information and to apply for loan assistance e-mail Ann Chambers at the above address or call 860.437.4659, ext. 204.
