Hospice Southeastern Connecticut Social Workers Receive Advanced Certification

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut announces that two of its Social Workers have gained premier credentials from the National Association of Social Workers in the field of Hospice and Palliative Care.

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut Supervisor of Counseling Services, Tina Kamercia, and Bereavement Program Administrator, Cyndia Shook, were awarded the Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Social Work credential having fulfilled rigorous education, training and experience requirements. This award was designed cooperatively by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) for social workers who meet national standards of excellence. Kamercia has been working with Hospice Southeastern Connecticut for three years, and Shook for nine years.

“We are proud of Tina and Cyndia for achieving these specialized credentials,” said Carol Mahier, Executive Director of Hospice Southeastern Connecticut. “Their deep commitment to helping our patients and their families is evident with the work that goes into fulfilling the meticulous standards of the NASW.”

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut provides care in the home and often in skilled nursing facilities for those facing the end of their life, regardless of age, disease or inability to pay. The organization also provides bereavement services for families in New London County free of charge, regardless of whether the death occurred under hospice care or not.
