Stretching Imaginations at the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut NIANTIC, CT – “I’m bored. There’s nothing for me to do.” Once school is finally over, it’s not long before parents and caregivers hear that common cry. The Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, 409 Main St., comes to the rescue by offering “Imagination Stretchers,” a series of creative programs each Monday during July at 1:30 pm. The 45-minute classes include art, experimentation, and a little science. On July 5, children learn about old-fashioned photography while converting the room into a camera obsura. On July 12, children have fun with hammers, nails, and wood glue to create sculpture. Life drawing, based on a live pygmy hedgehog, is the theme on July 19, and making a city out of cardboard is set for July 26. Parents and caregivers can drop off their children for the classes, which are geared for 7-9 year olds. The cost is $9 per class per member or $15 for nonmembers. To register for one or all programs, call (860) 691-1111. For information, visit www.childrensmuseumsect.org. |
