Get Ready for the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut’s Trikes to Bikes ’10

Niantic, CT — It’s time for the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut’s 4th annual Trikes to Bikes family bike ride! The fundraising event begins with registration on Sunday, Oct. 10, 8 am, at Niantic Bay Bicycles, 8 Methodist St., rain or shine.

Choose either the 7.5-mile ride through flat coastal marshes or the more challenging 33-mile ride through the scenic roads of the Lyme. Both rides start at 9 am at the bicycle shop when a kids’ decorated bike parade escorts them onto the road.

The registration fee for the decorated bike parade is $10 per family, however on the day of the event it is $15.  The fee for the 7.5-mile bike ride is $20 per family with advance registration and $25 per family on the day of the ride. The 33-mile ride costs $25 per rider before the day of the event and $30 on the day.

Special activities are planned at the Museum from 9-11:30 am for finished riders or guests of the Children’s Museum.

To help kids get their bicycles and tricycles ready for the parade, the Museum is offering a decorating workshop on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 3-4:30 pm.  The maximum material fee per family is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Limited space is available and registration is required.  Bikes may be stored at the Museum overnight.
