The Mission

The mission of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation is to promote initiatives that enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities for children and families in the Chamber service area.

The Foundation is a business community based 501(C)(3) foundation affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, Inc.

It is the intent of the Foundation to provide such organizations with resources to assist in pilot programs, expansion of programs, research, etc., rather than the day-to-day operations of that organization.

The Purpose

  • Provide grants to 501 (c)(3) organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service that are devoted exclusively to charitable, educational, and economic purposes which, under current law, are exempt from taxation.
  • Provide “seed money” for new services.
  • Allocate funds to fill needs which may not be met by other organizations or sources.

The Foundation provides a special opportunity for local businesses to support the children of Connecticut.

Past Success

The Foundation provides grants to non profit organizations who distribute toys, books and essential clothing items to underprivileged children during the Holiday season. In addition, assistance is provided to organizations that help children in so many critically important ways. We are working to make a difference in the lives of children. It is a community-wide effort and it could not be done without the generosity and kindness of people in Eastern Connecticut.

Thousands of lives are touched yearly. Since 2002, Foundation grants have exceeded $1,000,000.
