STONINGTON, CT - The Jammin' Divas are three stunning voices from Ireland, Australia and the USA coming together to perform traditional and contemporary original folk music from their culture. As described by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette top entertainment reporter Richard Duckett described the group as it "doesn't seem as if they behave like three divas" an that is true the name came about when Aoife Clancy, Kath Buckell and Becky Chace got together for a 'jam' and were exploring each others music "we are not divas we are really down to earth, and just thought the name had a good ring as what Divas actually get together and have a jam session these days?".
The three women are Aoife Clancy from Ireland who is the daughter of Bobby Clancy of The infamouse Clancy Brothers and GRAMMY nominee with Cherish the ladies has had a long standing career touring with the likes of The Clancy Brothers, Christy Moore the Furey Brothers, Tommy Sands to name a few she also toured seven weeks with the renowned Paddy Noonan Show. In 1995 Aoife was asked to join the acclaimed group "Cherish the Ladies", which is one of the most sought-after Irish American groups in history. For the past four years Aoife has toured extensively doing no less than two hundred dates a year throughout the United States and Europe. She has been a featured soloist with orchestras such as the Boston Pops and Cincinnati Pops and, while performing with Cherish the Ladies, collaborated with the Boston Pops on their Grammy nominated Celtic album. Now with seven recordings under her belt in the last decade, Aoife has clearly established herself as one of the 'Divas' of Irish and contemporary Folk Music.
Anyone who has seen Becky Chace sing in any setting knows she delivers with passion and conviction every time she takes a stage. Chosen Best Female Vocalist 5 times by the readers of the Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll, Becky has been called "one of the most celebrated singer/songwriters to come out of the RI area." by Motif Magazine. Together with her band, Chace has opened for such national acts as BB King, America, Judi Collins, Littlefeat, Delbert McClinton, and Southside Johnny, The Kennedys and the Asbury Jukes.
The Australian counterpart Kath Buckell who is a rising folk artist in the USA and has just been selected for the official showcase at SERFA 2011 captivates audiences whereever she travels. In classic troubadour style she has toured internationally living in Israel, Asia and now the USA and has found her roots in a project that is preserving traditional Australian poetry put to her original music. This new project call Faces Do Not Change was produced by Daniel Jakubovic and supported by Jaruslav Jakubovic (Paul Simon, Carly Simon) and guest appearance of Bette Midlers very own Harlette, Ula Hedwig, where she did a beautiful rendition of her song Bird Of Mine.
